At the moment our City Council is not requiring that Executive Leadership file a form 700 sharing their economic interests. Our City Council files such reports, but in violation of FPPC rules our City Manager, City Attorney, our Department heads, are not reporting and posting their statements of economic interests. Not having Executive staff like the CM, Chief of Police or Department heads file form 700’s leaves many of us questioning if they have a conflict of interest in recommending such items to be purchased.
For all the Council and public know, such Department heads might have stock market shares with the companies they are asking the Council to consider approving.
