18 Sep Special Council Meeting for September 20, 2022
Now our Grand Jury joins the list with some elected officials and some Council candidates that say they are against the Measure P tax Measure this November 8, yet produce rhetoric that speaks of spending money the City of Vallejo Executive Managers say the City does not have. At the September 13 meeting Malone said there is not enough money to pay dispatchers market wages.
According to an article reported in the Vallejo Sun, the Grand Jury wants the City to spend money on a new County-wide digital communications system, and to spend tens of millions on a new building for the Police Department, and use Federal and State grants to accomplish this, and not a new tax.
The issue with the Grand Jury recommendations is they do not specify which grants the City should apply for. The City’s Official response will be available and voted on at the Special Council meeting next Tuesday September 20th.

I’m curious how much additional money it will cost to renovate and or move the library to 400 Mare Island Way, which was the original proposal. There isn’t any mention of this in the staff report.

I think in the spirit of transparency that the real costs of all options will be made public.
